These are original seven wonders of the world in present time after announced by UNESCO in 2007
GREAT WALL OF CHINA (CHINA)
It is built between 5th century B.C. and the 16th century. It is the longest wall of the world and the biggest ancient structure ever built. It is 13000 miles long. It is situated in the northeast part of China. It is 2300 years old. It is created by Qin Shi Huang.
CHRIST THE REDEEMER STATUE (RIO DE JANEIRO)
It is the largest statue in the world. It is 98 feet tall and 92 feet wide. Its weight is about 635 tones. It is located in the Tijuca National Forest, at the top of Corcovado Mountain. Its the 5th largest statue of Jesus. It is constructed from 1922 and was completed after nine years. The stones used to built redeemer came from Sweden. The statue officially opened on October 12,1931.
MACHU PICCHU (PERU)
Machu Picchu is also known as the Lost City of the Incas. It is located on the eastern Andes mountain slopes in a tropical mountain forest. There are terraces and walls that look as if they were cut from the rock. It is 7970 feet above sea level. Its thought that a German business man discovered Machu Picchu in 1867 and remove artifacts from the site. There are maps that shows Machu Picchu dating back to 1874, which means that Hiram Bingham was not the first to see the magnificent site. It was named Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981, and in 1983 UNESCO classified it as a World Heritage Site.
CHECHEN ITZA (YUCATAN PENINSULA, MEXICO)
It also means `at the mouth of the well of the Itza`. It may have built where it was because of the location of the two large natural sink holes nearby that would have provided water year round. The Castillo is probably the most famous image of Chechen Itza. Castillo means castle of Spanish. It is in the shape of pyramid. about 1.2 million people visit Itza every year.
THE ROMAN COLOSSEUM (ROME)
Its Construction begun under the emperor Vespasian in AD 72, and was completed in AD80 under his successor and heir Titus. Further modifications made during the reign of Domitian (81-96). The Colosseum could hold average audience of some 65000. The Colosseum also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is a oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. built of travertine, tuff, and brick faced concrete, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built.
TAJ MAHAL (AGRA, INDIA)
Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful monuments of India. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mum Taj Mahal after her death. Taj Mahal is a mausoleum crafted in ivory marble and jeweled with semi precious stones. It is the burial place of the Empress Mum Taj Mahal. It was built between 1632 and 1648.
PETRA (JORDON)
Petra is a historical city and is originally known as Ragmu. It is located in Southern Jordan. The name of site is called Petra which came from the Greek word ROCK because the city was carved inside red rose Sandstone rock. It was established nearly in 4th century BC as the capital of the Nabataean kingdom. Another name of Petra is the Rose city due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. In 1985 the Petra Archeological Park was declared by UNESCO as the World Heritage Site, and in 2007 it was named one of the new seven wonders of the world.
