Introduction of Sardar Patel
Sardar Patel was on 31st October,1875 in Nadiad, a small village in Gujrat. His father name was Jhaverbhai Patel and he was a farmer.And his mother name was Laadba Devi who was a housewife. Patel went to England in 1913 to further study and became a barrister. returning to India, he starts law. He was a successful lawyer. He was always wanted to do something for the country. Then he devoted himself for the India's Independence movement. After then, he was the first home minister and first Deputy Prime Minister . He was one of the most prominent leader of that time.Sardar died on 15th December, 1950 in Bombay because of heart attack. In 1991 he was given Bharat Ratna.
STATUE OF UNITY
- Statue of unity is the statue of one of the most prominent leader SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL who is fondly remember as the Iron Man Of India.
- It is a symbol of unity and strength.
- The government of India created history on 31st October, 2018 by unveiling the tallest statue in the world THE STATUE OF UNITY.
- The height of the statue is 182 meters as there are 182 seats in the Gujrat Legislative Assembly.
- It was inaugurated by the P.M. Narendra Modi who was the man behind initiating the idea of building this statue.
- It was given the name The Statue Of Unity as Vallabhbhai Patel played a vital role in both pre and post Independence India.
- It is located 3.2 km away from Sardar Sarovar Dam near Vadodara(Gujrat).
- It is surrounded by 12 km long artificial lake. It includes an exhibition area, memorial garden and a museum.
- Large number of labourers and architects were employed to construct this statue.
- It is drawing worldwide attention. Its popularity can be judge by the number of tourists visited here.
- The monument is closed for visitors only on Mondays.
- A lot of public contribution was made by the Gujrat people for the completion of this project.
Why Sardar called Iron Man of India?
- Sardar called Iron man of India because he is the one who combined 565 princely states and makes a nation India.
- At that time all of these princely have their own rules and regulations this responsibility was given to Sardar Patel and he has done it. He combined all of these princely and convert into one nation.
- Only the Junagarh, Kashmir and Hyderabad refuses to combine with India. But by his efficient leadership he has also combined these towards India.
- Once at Bardoli District the british government was charging extra money from farmers with the name of tax. In its conclusion Sardar created a blueprint of Satyagrah and leads it for farmers fropm then farmars gave him a degree of SARDAR.
- He played a lead role in Bharat Chodo Andolan . From his immaculate image and attraction of people towards him Britishers get panic and arrested him on 9th august,1942 and take him on gail for three years.
- It is also said that he is one who supported devotion of India and Pakistan.
