Janter Manter
Janter manter is the gratest architecture of Indian masterpiece. Maharaja Jai Singh II of jaipur contructed in1712 A.D. It is a magnificent structure which consist of fourteen geometric device which is used for measuring time , predicting behavior of platents , forecasting weather changes.All devices are fixed and pointing to a specific direction.
Jantar Mantar contains six instruments.
Samrat Yantra
Samrat Yantra also called Supreme Instrument , is triangular in shape and 70 feet high and 114 feet long from the ground and 10 feet thick. It can tell the time with an accuracy of 2 seconed. It also measured the declination of the sun which can be seen by the shadow moving around the structure
Jai Prakash yantra
Jai Prakash yantra, an instrument which consists of two concave hemispherical structures, form a complete device. The Jai Prakash shows the sun's position at the time of equinox. There is a hole near the bottom of the structure which witnesses sunshine only once in a year that is on 21 march, called vernal eqinox. Jai Singh himself designed this instrument because of this it is called Jai Prakash Yantra.
Ram Yantra
Ram Yantra, consists of two large buildings with open top. Both these two buildings form a complete device. It indicate the altitude and declination of celestial bodies.
Misra Yantra
Misra Yantra, which combines five instruments . Mishra yantras were able to indicate when it was noon in various cities all over the world. Pillars on the southwest of Mishra Yantra are used to measure the shortest day and the longest day of the year.
Jantar Mantar is an interesting place to visit, as the geometric structures are master piece of Indian architecture t. Jantar Mantar also provides a calm and pleasing environment. Spread in a good open area, the protected monument has all basic facilities. For eatables one can find all kind of stuff outside the main entrance. There is no parking facility at the monument but tourists can park their vehicles in the nearby parking area, which is 200 meters away.Just half an hour drive from jantar mantar , visitor can reach famous Delhi Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and Hanuman Mandir , Both of these religious places are only a few distance away.
