Red Fort
The foundation of Red Fort Lal Quila is laid by Shah Jahan ,on 16 august 1693.Mughal Emperor Shah jahan started the construction of the massive fort in 1638, and work was completed in 1648.
The fort has the trapping from all sides and become a important center of Mugal Government.A white moat surrounds the fort which is connected with the river and always filled with water. There are two main gates in Red Fort , known as Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate. As the name suggest Lahori gate face toward Lahore and Delhi Gate faces toward Delhi. The fort contains -the halls for both the public and private audience, domed and arched marble palaces, plush private apartments, a mosque and elaborately designed gardens. The fort is a impressive evidence to Mughal Skills.
The main entrance for the Lal Quila is going through the Lahori Gate. Above the gate, there is a roofed passage, flanked by arcaded apartments leading to the palaces, known as Chhatta Chowk. Besides these, there are more of the three gates on other side, which are kept closed now. Visitors are only allowed in a part, as the army occupies the rest of it.

Diwan-I-Am
Diwan-I-Am or "The Hall of Public Audiences”, is the place where the emperor would like to sit and hear the complaints of common people. In the Diwan-i-Am, there was a gigantic awning, embroidered with gold, to protect the visitors from the sun. Above the throne there was a huge canopy, which rested on four silver masts, 20 meters high.
Diwan-i-Khas
The Diwan-I-Khas is the hall which is made for Private Audiences, where the Emperor held all of the private meetings. This hall was made by the use of Marble, and its centre-piece was used to be the Peacock Throne, which was studded with rubies and gems. The Diwan-i-Khas was magnificent. From the huge golden roof chains were suspended in the form of like beehives from which star swung. On the walls there were embroidered velvet drapes, tapestries, decorative swords, shields, and lances adorned the upper portions.
Hamam
Hamam consists of three apartments interconnected by corridors. The marble floors and dados are inlaid with beautiful floral patterns of multi-colored stones.
Moti Masjid
Moti masjid is situated to the west of Hamam . On 1659 It was built as a private mosque for King Aurangzeb,. It is a small, three-domed mosque which carved in white marble.
Mumtaz Mahal
Mumtaz Mahal was situated along the river front , it is also known as Chhoti Baithak. A magnificent water channel flew through these places called 'Nahr-i-Bihisht'. Here music is played 5 times a day.It has a gate known as Hathi Pol , where visitors get off from their elephant.
Old Fort or Purana Quila
Old Fort or Purana Quila , was built by the Sher Shah Suri , in 16th century A.D. and also known as Qila-i-kuhna masjid' .It is a fascinating building , a important tourist place and a evidence of amazing Mughal art.It is built on the site of Indraprastha , mention in Mahabharata , Sher shah suri built it after he demolished the Humayun’s city, Dinpanah.There is a Mosque in the Old Fort , the prayer Hall of mosque is about 51.20 meter in length and 14.90 meter is breath. There are five doorways and horseshoe shape arches in the mosque, the old fort display a mixture of Mughal , Afgan asnd Hindu architecture
Gates In Old Fort
There are three gates in the Old Fort.The First Gate is Bara Darwaza , today it is the entrance gate of Old Fort. The South Gate is called the Humayan Darwaza and the third gate is the Talaqi Darwaza.
Sher Mandal
